Three years ago, my mom and I signed up to run this half marathon together. Early that summer, she was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer and we didn't end up participating in the race because of her health. This year, I am running for her. Cancer has claimed the lives of so many people I love, but it didn't take my mom. She fought so hard and endured so much, and I want to dedicate the hours of training and preparation for this half marathon to her and her tireless fight (and victory) against cancer.
The AF Canyon Run Against Cancer is all about running for a cause. Each person runs for their own reason — and we’d love to hear about it! Connect with us and share your experiences using hashtag #afcanyonrun #whywerun.
